Ravens secure a point against in-form hosts

A tightly-contest match for FC Isle of Man in Manchester today saw the Ravens grind out a 0-0 draw against an in-form Wythenshawe Town in the NWCFL Premier Division this afternoon (2 September).

Both sides went into today's contest at Ericstan Park level on points and occupying fourth and fifth spots in the league table.

FC Isle of Man were hoping to respond to a surprise defeat on Monday at Skelmersdale United whilst Wythenshawe Town were hoping to keep up a good recent run of four wins from their last five matches.

In a busy and intense first half between the two sides neither were able to create much in the way of clear cut chances leading to a goalless first 45 after the hosts had controlled the majority of the possession.

One of the most notable developments in the game was three minutes into the second period as Wythenshawe Town had a penalty appeal waved away by the referee.

The result means both sides each remain locked closely together on 16 points in the league standings.

FC Isle of Man coach, Gareth Lloyd, gave his thoughts on his side's performance at full-time:

FC Isle of Man's next match will be away against Pilkington on Wednesday, 6 September, kicking-off at 7.45pm.
