Manx side take two wins on opening day in Spain

The Isle of Man made a perfect start to its campaign at the 2023 European Cricket Championship during yesterday (25 September).

During their opening day at the T10 competition in Malaga, Spain, the Manx side recorded their first ever ECC T10 wins with dominant victories against Czechia and Greece.

In the first of those two contests, the Isle of Man faced Czechia and chose to bat first recording 135-5 from their innings with the standout display coming from Ollie Webster who managed 101 not out.

Their opponents then got off to a flyer in their own innings before the bowling displays of Joe Burrows (2-16), Fraser Clarke (0-17), Chris Langford (0-23) and Kieran Cawte (1-26) ended up restricting Czechia to 123-3 overall to see the Isle of Man win by 12 runs.

Next up for the Isle of Man was Greece who won the toss and chose to bowl first - here the Isle of Man faced a stiffer test as the managed 107-6 but once more the likes of Clarke and Langford began to stifle Greece's run rate and it would pay dividends as the Isle of Man would restrict Greece to a final score of 81-6 to help the Island side to its second win.

The Isle of Man face two more games today (26 September), they face the hosts Spain at 1pm before taking on France at 5.30pm.
