New archers impress in IOM Field Archery Championships

Shots, well arrows, were fired in the Isle of Man Field Archery Championships at the weekend.

For many of the archers this was their first ever competition and they didn't fail to impress.

Willa Sherrocks took Gold in the beginners competition with a score of 258. Silver went to Will Corteen on 200 and Julie Corteen took Bronze with a score of 190 just 4 points ahead of Catherine Potter on 186.

Tom Rogers- also a new archer-chose to shoot full pegs and put down a great score of 266, earning himself a Bronze Medal.

The star of the day was Bradley Malone who scored a magnificent 278 points and took 1st place in the Junior Handicap Trophy.

The top scorers and medal winners on full distance were predominantly Sleights.

Lesley Sleight led the way with 328, followed by Rodger Sleight on 274, Jack Sleight was just four points behind on 270, Tom Rogers scored 266 and Sam Sleight scored 234.

Lesley Sleight took the Senior trophy with 2nd place going to Willa Sherrocks closely followed by Rodger Sleight in 3rd.
