Anstey quickest in practice

Yamahas do the business as Lougher sets pace in Lightweight class

Bruce Anstey was the quickest in last night's Superbike Classic TT practice session.

It was the first chance some riders in this year's Festival of Motorcycling had to get some laps in around the famous Mountain Course.

Clerk of the Course Gary Thompson gave the green light for the session to go ahead after fears the low mist over the mountain section could put paid to practice.

It was the Flying Kiwi who set down a marker when the action did finally get underway, though.

The 12-time TT winner posted a 121.932mph lap as he finished ahead of Ivan Lintin and Derek Shiels.

Anstey took his form into the Lightweight qualifying as well, registering second fastest lap which was only bettered by Ian Lougher on his Yamaha.

Lougher rode a 113.994mph lap and was the quickest around the course.

The session also saw Senior and Junior classics in action.
