One resident submits over 10 per cent of requests

Freedom of Information legislation is creating a more transparent government, according to a minister.

More than 400 requests have been submitted across government departments since its introduction in the Island - with the majority of them being answered.

Data obtained through FOI has lifted the lid on a range of issues, including hospital negligence, drug abuse, safety on electric trams, and, most recently, VAT paid on imported aircraft.

According to figures from the Cabinet Office, one local resident has been responsible for more than 10 per cent of all requests submitted.
