Johnston describes Shoprite takeover as 'a shock'

Government says it’s seeking to understand the ‘long term intentions’ that Tesco has for the Isle of Man.

The enterprise minister has described the retail giant’s takeover of Shoprite stores as a ‘shock’ saying there’s been no ‘proper dialogue’ about the move.

Tim Johnston acknowledges that food producers, who sell through the nine supermarkets, will be concerned about what happens next.

He told Manx Radio further clarity is needed:
