Government committed to keeping facility operating
A tender process has failed to come up with an operator for the Island's Meat plant.
Hopes that someone might be found to put the heavily subsidised facility on a firmer footing, haven't produced a preferred bidder.
The Government now faces a further period bailing out the plant, to keep it going, with an assurance the Plant will stay open.
Speaking at the end of October, the Environment Minister, Geoffrey Boot admitted that the tender response wasn't shaping up well.
The Department says its working on a revised solution for a new business structure. That would have a commercial board and offer revised pricing to farmers.
A detailed plan is expected before the end of the year.
