Parliament rests but enquiries continue

Ministers questioned on trams, prescriptions

The Manx Parliament is still in recess but that hasn't deterred members from fielding a round of questions for written answer.

Tynwald is not sitting again until October - but enquiries have been lodged with ministers on perennial topics such as food poverty, education and healthcare fees.

A decidedly mammoth 45 questions face members on the September question paper, the second in as many months during the Parliament's annual break.

Sixteen of those come from North Douglas MHK David Ashford, who wants to know exactly how much revenue is expected to made from prescriptions fee proposals, and about recent brake failures on the Island's electric railways.

Speaker of the Keys Juan Watterson has 10 separate questions tabled, on matters covering standards in the tribunal system, and government pay increases.

Other queries come from Onchan member Julie Edge on expenses during government trips, and Arbory, Castletown and Malew member Jason Moorhouse on Treasury plans for a themed Christmas coin.

If you'd like to view the question paper in it's entirety, you can do so here.
