Minister acknowledges need to act quickly to mitigate concerns of hospitality sector

The LVA chairman has pledged to work with the Department to find options for support

Minister for Enterprise, Tim Johnston, has acknowledged the need for government to act quickly to mitigate concerns expressed by the hospitality sector.

It follows an open forum event involving his department and representatives of small businesses from different parts of the industry.

After the meeting a joint statement was issued by the Department and the Licensed Victuallers Association.

The Minister has asked the Business Agency to continue the momentum and work with the sector as an absolute priority, to develop options for a way forward which are affordable, sustainable and fair.

Speaking on behalf of the LVA, chairman, Andy Gibbs, pledged to work with the Department to develop more detail around options for support, which will achieve the desired outcomes for the hospitality sector.

Mr Gibbs welcomed the acknowledgement of their concerns by government, and expressed the hope that the message the sector needs support quickly if businesses are able to survive, has been received.
