Manx Utilities yet to order wind turbines

Procurement process due to begin this month

Manx Utilities says it would have to place an order for wind turbines promptly to ensure the equipment is available in time to meet plans for an onshore windfarm by 2026.

The board is due to begin a procurement process this month after announcing plans for a windfarm earlier this year - it hasn't yet ordered any turbines.

Chairman Tim Crookall says the authority has to balance meeting long lead times with the need to meet the requirements of government's procurement policy.

He's also confirmed it's not yet known what deposit will be needed to secure the order.
