Manx 'Chef of the Year 2017' crowned

Winner attributes victory to local produce

Isle of Man 'Chef of the Year' was crowned at the Food and Drink Festival.

Noitre Cafe and Bistro in Laxey's prized chef, Marcus Purcell, pipped Sam Kelly of Dine Du Jour to the post in a close final.

Marcus created a 'world of umami' using Manx-reared pork, which he says is the best he has cooked with anywhere in the world, and its black pudding, both supplied by Ballakelly Farm.

He won £500 cash, an engraved plaque, flowers, and £500 for his business to spend on advertising.

He praised the quality of local Manx produce:
