CM supports living wage

Chief Minister says example needs to be set

The Chief Minister has reiterated his support for the principle of a national living wage in the Island.

Howard Quayle says government needs to set an example and work towards becoming a living wage employer.

A recent report exploring the benefits and potential impacts suggests an hourly wage of £8.61 would help lower paid workers in the Island and help fight wider poverty.

However, speaking in the House of Keys this morning (Tuesday), Mr Quayle said we first need to fully understand the impact and cost implications.
