Tynwald pledges support for Castle Rushen

Swearing-in the Island's next Lieutenant Governor has moved a step closer back towards its traditional home.

It's after Tynwald pledged to support holding future ceremonies at Castle Rushen, where it was traditionally conducted for centuries.

 

Sir Richard Gozney last year became the first Governor in living history not to be inaugurated at the Castle, after Manx National Heritage aired concerns over its deteriorating condition.

He was instead sworn in at the Courts of Justice in Douglas - which Chief Minister Howard Quayle remarked has a 'complete lack of character'.
