Health Dept denies jacket removal

Spuds always on offer as a 'back up'

Health bosses have denied reports jacket potatoes have been permanently scrapped from school dinner menus.

Teachers and parents took to social media yesterday after dinnerladies were reportedly told to stop serving the popular meal at a Douglas primary school.

The Department of Health and Social Care is responsible for what's available in school canteens.

In a statement, staff said potatoes were 'always designed to be a back-up choice' for pupils, and 'jacket potatoes will continue to be available alongside two main meals, salad bar, fresh fruit and bread'.
