Gov't cuts Meals on Wheels funding

DHSC cuts £150,000 a year

A raft of new measures have been announced by the Department of Health and Social Care today.

They include a relocation of the chemotherapy unit, and improved intermediate care to allow patients to stay in their homes longer.

It's hoped the moves will reduce costs, and free up bed space at Noble's Hospital.

The department also confirmed it was ending its support for the Meals on Wheels service, where it currently pays £150,000 a year to Age Concern Isle of Man, who operate the scheme.

Minister Kate Beecroft and CEO, Malcolm Couch, deny the withdrawal of the funding will lead to recipients of the meals paying more:
