Endoscopy relocation to be scrutinised

Ramsey Cottage Hospital evidence being heard

The way health chiefs handled the restructuring of the Island’s endoscopy service will be explored by a Tynwald scrutiny committee today (Thursday).

After previously operating at both Noble’s and Ramsey Cottage hospitals, it was last month relocated to one site at Noble’s.

Health officials say the move will help reduce waiting lists and lead to more follow-up appointments being carried out after it emerged more than 150 patients failed to receive follow-ups within the recommended time frame.

The Social Affairs Policy Review body will this afternoon hear from former Ramsey MHK, Leonard Singer, who is chairman of the League of Friends of Ramsey Cottage Hospital, Dr Andrew Kelsey and Ramsey Cottage Trustees.

The sitting at four o’clock is in the Legislative Council chamber in Douglas.
