Dog found safe and well after cliff search

Coastguard crews spent almost four hours looking for missing canine

Coastguard crews spent almost four hours searching for a dog feared to have gone over the cliffs in Peel.

Peel Coastguard was called out just before 2.30pm yesterday, following reports of the dog and its owner being in danger.

The owner was located and kept safe while Port Erin crews were brought in to join the search for the dog in difficult weather conditions.

However, the dog was found safe and well in Peel, and was reunited with its owner, allowing the coastguard teams to stand down at 6.15pm.

The coastguard is urging all dog owners to ensure they keep their pets on a lead when walking near cliffs.
