DHSC's tribunal legal costs exceed £37,000

UK lawyer brought over to defend department

Legal fees for the Department of Health and Social Care during a recent employment tribunal came to more than £37,000.

UK-based advocate James Boyd put forward the department's defence in the proceedings brought by former medical director Dr Rosalind Ranson.

A Freedom of Information request, submitted by Manx Radio, shows advice and assistance provided to the DHSC in relation to the case so far has cost £37,399.

The tribunal is yet to publish its judgment.
