Deemster Doyle to stand down

Decision approved by Queen

First Deemster David Doyle is set to stand down from his position later this year.

His last day in office will be 31 July 2018, having been in the post since December 2010.

Before that, David Doyle spent twelve months as Acting First Deemster and was Second Deemster from March 2003.

The announcement has come from Government House with Her Majesty The Queen approving the request from the First Deemster.

Deemster Doyle will return to private practice but has no intention to appear as an advocate in court.

Cains has announced David Doyle is to join the firm as a senior lawyer within the litigation department.

A start date is still to be agreed but is likely to be in November.
