Cultural example of digital inclusion

BIC members see Manx tech at St Johns

The Manx government has show-cased efforts to encourage residents of all ages and abilities to use digital technology in their daily lives.

Ministers from the British-Irish Council gathered in Douglas last week, for a mini-summit on digital inclusion.

It's a work stream adopted by all eight member states, and is currently led by Policy and reform Minister Chris Thomas, who chaired the meeting.

A Digital Inclusion Strategy so far has 13 signatories from the government, the private and third sectors, while a Digital Friends scheme has seen families, neighbours and colleagues pass on skills.

Ideas, experience and know-how were shared at the meeting, and plans for partnerships with large organisations agreed.  

Delegates were taken to Tynwald Hill before they left on Friday, to see how technology has helped increase interest in Manx traditions and songs.
