Construction sector least confident of growth

Business confidence survey reveals interesting findings

Out of all Island industries, the construction sector is the least confident in the growth of business locally, according to government research.

The first ever 'Business Confidence Survey, compiled by the economic affairs division of the Cabinet Office, has been released.

Based on feedback from local employers, the report indicates an overall 'environment of optimism' for future growth - businesses were questioned on a range of subjects, such as the living wage, cyber security, and skills gaps.

The findings show many anticipate more growth, as well as an increase in employment in the next six months, with the financial services sector being the most confident in business booming.

Most companies also revealed they do pay employees above £8.61, the living wage rate.

You can read the report via the Economic Affairs Division section of the Government website.
