'Charities should show moral leadership'

Gawne endorses CM's safeguarding appeal

Charities on the Isle of Man should be transparent and have the right moral leadership and culture in place to protect vulnerable people.

That's according to David Gawne, Vice Chairman of the Island's Council of Voluntary Organisations.

In the wake of the Oxfam sex scandal, the Chief Minister has sought assurances from all local charities that they have adequate safeguarding procedures.

Mr Gawne, who supports Howard Quayle's appeal, says third sector organisations should be accountable for their actions:
