Beach Buddies back in Ramsey

Tackling marine waste and plastic

Beach Buddies return to the northern end of Ramsey Beach today.

The volunteers are aiming to finish off cleaning a long stretch of coastline which has been badly affected by marine litter.

Anyone wanting to take part should meet at the Grand Island end of the promenade at 10.30am where groups will then move north towards Cranstal and The Dog Mills, where the  majority of the rubbish has collected.

Organiser Bill Dale says he expects to collect a lot of plastic and baby-wipes from the area once again - though adds that hopefully the situation will improve when the new sewage treatment works come on stream shortly.

All are welcome, the only requirement being suitable clothing and footwear - gloves can be provided and all rubbish collected today won't have to be dragged back to the car park as it can be collected from the beach by the Beach Buddies truck.
