The Iowa Tribe of Oklahoma has become the first Native American tribe to secure an international online gaming license.

Ioway Internet Gaming Enterprise Limited, an Isle of Man registered company, was granted an online gaming license by the IOM Gambling Supervision Commission earlier this month.

The license was secured by the Iowa Tribe just under two years after it first announced plans to operate an international online gaming website from its tribal lands, which are located within the exterior borders of the State of Oklahoma.

The application was approved in June of this year at a meeting of the Gambling Supervision Commission attended by a number of Iowa Tribe representatives, and subject to several conditions being fulfilled.

The site - known as PokerTribe.com - is expected to go live sometime in the Autumn.
