Says crucial decisions have to be made for future of Island

Douglas South MHK Bill Malarkey has announced he's standing for re-election in this September's general election.

He was originally elected to the House of Keys in 2006 as a Liberal Vannin party member before leaving the party the following year.

After losing his seat at the 2011 general election, he successfully won a by-election in May last year - following Davd Cretney's elevation to the Legislative Council.

Mr Malarkey says crucial decisions have to be made for the future of the Isle of Man.

He cites protecting sea services, promoting the Island's potential following Britain's decision to leave the European Union and managing the pension legacy debt as key issues.

Mr Malarkey says he's been proud to represent his Douglas South constituents since his re-election to the Keys last year - and that he'll go to the polls knowng the promises in his last manifesto have been kept.

In a statement, he added local, national and international community leadership takes courage in challenging times.
